NIKA NEELOVA: ONE OF MANY FRAGMENTS – EDWARD ALLINGTON & NIKA NEELOVA – New Art Centre, Salisbury

11 September - 20 November 2021
New Art Centre
Roche Court, East Winterslow, Salisbury SP5 1BG

The show presents a dialogue between the work of the late Edward Allington, who came to prominence in the 1980s as part of the ‘New British Sculpture’ movement, and one of his students from the Slade, the young Russian-born, London-based sculptor Nika Neelova.

Beyond their personal connection, both artists are united by their exploration of how human sensibilities can be encapsulated by architecture, particular how fragments of the built-world can be repurposed to evoke a sense of memory and time.

'Sculpture is looking at real things by making real things. It is making poetry with solid objects.'

 Edward Allington
