As The Outliers, the collective term for the expanding group of paintings currently being made, depict an array of people that interest me for their unorthodox, idiosyncratic, constructive contribution to my life, Bonnie Prince Billy was always going to appear as an Outlier sooner or later.
Sometimes also known as Will Oldham, other times simply as Palace, (and many other names beside). I ‘found’ him through his music. A type of folkie, indy, rootsie, punky mash up that has produced some of the most tender, individual songs of the last twenty five years. Like all good artists, he is led by curiosity and invention. It his singularity that appeals. I like people who think for themselves, avoid ‘going with the flow’ and contribute to making a life less ordinary.
