I come from a comfortable bohemian arty family. It was also largely dysfunctional. As a boy lying in bed I would hear parents and their friends getting pissed, falling into arguments downstairs. To drown out that lot they would turn up the music. Often Joan Baez. I love Baez; says all the right things, easy to deride but a voice to melt butter.
